As a Casual Trumpet Instructor, you will play an important role in teaching music and developing the brass program across the College. The position involves approximately one full day per week of teaching trumpet students ranging from primary to VCE level, with opportunities to work with various school ensembles.

The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching a wide range of students, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff. A background in working within a school environment is preferred, but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching individual trumpet students and assisting with ensemble rehearsals
  • Liaising with the Head of Brass to support trumpet players in the ensembles
  • Preparing students for recitals and exams, and assisting with concerts as required
  • Maintaining brass instruments and attending meetings/training as necessary

Selection Criteria:

  • Excellent teaching and communication skills
  • Able to motivate and engage students, particularly those with varying levels of musical ability
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment, adhering to Ignatian values

The estimated salary for this position is $60-$80 per hour, based on industry standards and the location.
