We're seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of security at Canva.

About the role:

This is a leadership position that requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, and a passion for cybersecurity. You will lead a team of Security Engineers and be responsible for designing and implementing secure systems, processes, and practices that protect Canva's users and assets.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of security concepts, threat modeling, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies. They will also have experience with cloud services, operating systems, and incident response.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product, and Design, to ensure that security is integrated into every aspect of our product and service.

A salary range of $160,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience, is available for this position.

About the team:

Our Incident Response team is responsible for protecting Canva's systems and data from information security threats. We work together as a team to deliver preventive and detective controls and processes that reduce security risk.

We engage in both proactive and reactive activities to prevent, detect, and respond to security threats. As a Senior Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our Incident Response team and contributing to a culture where we work with empathy, humility, and generosity.

Key responsibilities include responding to and coordinating security incidents, conducting root cause analyses, coaching and mentoring team members, engaging with other teams to identify and mitigate security risks, participating in the on-call roster, maintaining documentation, and fostering a positive work environment.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience in Incident Response or comparable technical roles, with a focus on operating systems and cloud services outside the Microsoft ecosystem.

Strong problem-solving skills, confident verbal and written communication, and ability to adapt style to suit situation and audience.

Experience leading and mentoring team members, with a passion for empowering others to grow and develop.
