Our Research Team Lead Opportunity

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary specialists to contribute towards the development of innovative methods for invasive ant eradication.
  • Manage and execute scientific research projects, including experimental design, data collection and analysis, and project reporting.
  • Coordinate specific projects and activities, such as developing project plans, leading staff teams, and maintaining scientific equipment.
  • Oversee administrative and compliance aspects of field and laboratory-based research, ensuring Workplace Health and Safety standards are met.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in scientific practices within the National Red Imported Fire Ant Eradication Program.

Some desirable qualifications include:

  • Expertise in invertebrate taxonomy, diagnostic processes, and live insect culture maintenance.
  • Experience in designing and executing field experiments and knowledge of various trapping methods used to monitor invertebrate communities.
  • Knowledge of ecological population metrics, including diversity, population indices, species richness, and evenness assessments.
  • Familiarity with software programs like ODK, Survey123, ArcGIS, and QGIS, with a demonstrated understanding of Python programming beneficial.

Mandatory qualifications:

  • Diploma in Biological Science from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent academic qualifications.
  • Current unrestricted C-Class Driver's Licence
