The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Support Officer to join the Specialist Ships branch within the Defence Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG).

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional to provide ongoing support to the Commonwealth Governments continuous naval shipbuilding projects. As a key member of a multi-functional team, you will contribute to shared business and project management functions that support a range of critical maritime projects.

Job Description

As a Project Support Officer, you will be accountable for performing and achieving moderately complex procedural, operational, business and project support work within an integrated environment. You will interpret and provide advice to stakeholders within the project management support function based on legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the team, including preparing documents, reports, and presentations
  • Assist in coordinating project activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of project plans and strategies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address project risks and issues

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated ability to establish clear plans and timeframes, and respond positively to change and uncertainty
  • An innovative and adaptive thinker, who takes accountability while taking a risk-based and flexible approach to delivering outcomes
  • A confident communicator, who is collaborative, agile, and can effectively manage within an integrated team environment
  • A competent Project Support Officer who can contribute to the success of the branch under broad direction

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this role is around $70,000 - $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications. You will also enjoy Australian Public Service conditions, including an attractive salary package and flexible, family-friendly working arrangements.
