Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Manager to join our team at The State of Queensland. As a Business Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the Deputy Director-General and the Hydrogen division in achieving their goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Deputy Director-General, ensuring effective and timely management of divisional responsibilities.
  • Provide high-level advice and strategic support on major business and governance issues relating to the Department and whole of Government issues.
  • Coordinate Senior Leadership Team meetings and support the provision of authoritative, professional, and timely advice to the Deputy Director-General and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Maintain and develop strong and effective relationships with senior management, divisional staff, and external stakeholders to manage and monitor projects and policy initiatives.
  • Obtain relevant advice and maintain liaison with key areas of the department to ensure timely resolution of issues.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience supporting a busy executive office, with the ability to anticipate needs, problem solve, and provide proactive support.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities to inspire and coordinate a diverse team towards achieving departmental and divisional goals.
  • Proficiency in the use of government-specific tools and software for finance, administration, project management, and collaboration.
  • A good understanding of government policies, procedures, and ethical standards to ensure compliance in all aspects of business operations.
  • Discretion and sensitivity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
