About the Role

This is a nine (9) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 4, 2024 with possible extension and/or permanency.

Byford Secondary College is an Independent Public School catering for children from Years 7 to 12. Our moral purpose is to work together to provide effective learning experiences where we all grow and students are prepared for a successful life beyond school.

The Role

The successful applicant will work with staff to put in place effective strategies to address identified learning needs, social and behavioural needs, provide individual support to students at risk and work at a strategic level with school leaders to maintain effective responses to intervention at a whole school level.

This position is to join the current School Psychologist team and is based in our state-of-the-art Integrated Facility catering to our students who have medium to high educational needs, working as part of a collaborative team of teachers, parents, and students. The role allows for work across the scope of practice, including case management, consultation, intervention, and assessment relating to learning, behaviour, and mental health to enhance student outcomes This is an exciting and dynamic role.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

  • hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
  • consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.

  • A three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF Demonstrated ability to implement psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.Demonstrated knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system-level intervention.Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation) skills.Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills, which demonstrate an ability to function in a self-directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, Department personnel and inter-agency partners across a variety of contexts.Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.
