Position Overview

Skilled Medical is pleased to present an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Psychiatrist to take on a permanent role within a regional hospital in Queensland.

This position offers a dynamic and multifaceted environment, where you will provide expert psychiatric knowledge and skills to enhance the quality of mental health services for patients within the integrated Mental Health and Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATODS) services, as well as the Homeless Health Outreach Team.

The health service operates critical industrial facilities and caters to a diverse patient demographic, presenting unique challenges and a varied case mix that may not be encountered in other settings.

This role is fast-paced and complex, allowing you to make a significant impact daily by applying your advanced psychiatric skills across a wide spectrum of mental health issues while working in a relatively autonomous setting.

About the Health Service

This Level 4 regional hospital features 80 beds and serves as a major referral center for the area. The facility is supported by a rural Flying Doctor Service for retrievals and has a significant indigenous population. It has recently undergone substantial redevelopment, including a new Emergency Department, and offers a comprehensive range of services such as Emergency Care, Aged Care, Anaesthetics, Community Health, Day Surgery, Dental, Dietetics, Family Planning, General Medicine, General Surgery, Intensive Care, Maternity, Medical Imaging, and Mental Health.

Essential Qualifications

  • FRANZCP, FACRRM, or FRACGP + FARGP.
  • MBBS or equivalent, eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Preferred: eligibility for Specialist registration in Psychiatry with AHPRA.
  • Completion of training for the Mental Health Act Authorised Doctor/Authorised Psychiatrist prior to commencement.
  • Experience in Addiction Psychiatry is highly desirable.

Compensation Package

This is a permanent full-time position with a competitive remuneration package ranging from $265,800 to $583,039 per annum.

  • Base salary (L13-L27) determined by experience and advanced qualifications.
  • Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 35%-50% of base annual salary.
  • Regional and rural attraction allowance of 15% of base annual salary.
  • Inaccessibility allowance of $34,500 per annum.
  • Motor vehicle allowance.
  • 5 weeks of Annual Recreational Leave with a 17.5% loading when taken.
  • Generous employer superannuation contribution of 12.75%.
  • Professional development allowance and 3.6 weeks of leave per annum.

Additionally, the client offers: Rent-free accommodation for up to 17 months and salary packaging options.

Eligible health professionals relocating to Queensland from other states or countries may qualify for up to $70,000 in incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme.
