We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter Machinist Apprentice to join our team in Karratha, WA. As a Mechanical Fitter Machinist Apprentice, you will assist and perform fitting and machining maintenance tasks, service activities relating to Metso equipment components, complete machines and spare parts.
Key Responsibilities- Develop skills to interpret engineering drawings and carry out work on manual lathes and milling machines.
- Machine parts according to drawing specifications and tolerance, and accurately record keeping of parts machined and material used.
- Perform physical housekeeping in Machining area and housekeeping and organised storage of CNC programs and other software.
- Machine preventative maintenance tasks, repairs as required on all workshop machinery, and trouble shooting as required with and without vendor assistance if available.
- Assist in other areas of workshop if required, and assist other Tradesmen to undertake strip and assess and then rebuild of Metso Outotec fixed plant equipment.
- Move from one task to another as required to meet production schedules, and records, analyses and informs relevant personnel of production quality assurance.
- Inform of status and disposition of customer requirements specific to job progress and status, and receive feedback, training and mentoring from fellow tradesmen.
- Keep the workshop supervisor informed of TAFE requirements well in advance, and inform the supervisor of any absence from TAFE.
- A keen interest in working in a mechanical environment, good mechanical aptitude, and an enthusiastic approach to each new challenge.
- Enjoy working in a technical environment, good hand-eye coordination, and a strong 'team player' with good communication skills.
- A strong commitment to both personal safety and the safety of others around them, a current Driver's License, and Certificate II in Engineering (desirable but not essential).
- 2nd and 3rd year apprentices are welcome to apply, and good aptitude for Math and competent computer skills.
