Senior Risk Engineer

This position will provide expert advice to our underwriters on risk quality, loss estimates, and loss prevention measures for our mining business. As a key member of our global Risk Engineering Services community, you will work closely with underwriters and other internal and external clients to deliver high-quality risk engineering services.
Main Responsibilities- Conduct insurance risk engineering surveys and provide consultations to our customers in the Australia and APAC region.
- Work with our mining underwriters to provide risk engineering technical advice on risk quality, loss estimates, natural hazard exposures, capacity allocation, and loss prevention measures for mid to large mining accounts.
- Assume the role as an account risk engineer for selected accounts on which Swiss Re provides lead capacity.
- Carry out on-site risk inspections and operations reviews on behalf of underwriters.
- Interact with customers, brokers, and underwriters regularly.
- Provide risk engineering consultation to our managed customers in the form of insurance risk surveys, risk improvement recommendations, loss mitigation proposals, and specifications.
- Formulate risk improvement recommendations to assist clients in their effort to improve the risk quality of their assets.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in mining engineering, risk management, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and proven experience in the mining industry, including experience as a mining insurance risk engineer at a broker, insurance company, or loss adjuster.
The successful candidate will have a strong interest in loss prevention topics, including fire protection, machinery breakdown, business continuity, and technical risk management. They will also have sound knowledge of local and international loss prevention and fire protection standards, such as NFPA or equivalent.
We are looking for a team player with strong communication, negotiation, and presenting skills, an entrepreneurial attitude, and a service mindset. The ideal candidate will be a good analytical thinker with a focus on details and a willingness to travel within Australia and on a limited basis in the APAC region.
