Job Title: Industry Engagement Officer for Climate Change Resilience

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Industry Engagement Officer for Climate Change Resilience. This role will play a critical part in our efforts to support the Tasmanian agriculture industry in building resilience to the impacts of climate change.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging with researchers, farmers, and industry stakeholders to communicate the findings of our climate change research and promote the adoption of new practices and technologies. This will involve developing and leading extension activities, collaborating with the Tas Farm Innovation Hub, and building relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead extension activities to promote the adoption of climate-resilient practices and technologies among farmers and industry stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with researchers and industry stakeholders to communicate the findings of our climate change research and promote the adoption of new practices and technologies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including farmers, industry representatives, and researchers.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve farmer and on-farm resilience in the context of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Contribute to the development of climate-related extension activities and programs.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake on-farm and local level extension and adoption activities.
  • An understanding of strategies to improve farmer and on-farm resilience in the context of climate change and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Ability to liaise, collaborate, negotiate, and influence business and industry stakeholders involved in our activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop productive relationships with a diverse range of collaborators within the agricultural and/or food processing sector.
