About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated early childhood educator to join our team at Hurstville City Council. As a casual early childhood teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and care to children aged 0-5 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement educational programs for young children, aligned with the National Quality Framework and our council's values.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Mentor and support staff to ensure excellent care and education standards.
  • Demonstrate expertise in early childhood education, including knowledge of legislation and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with children, families, and staff, ensuring transparency and trust.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Teaching or Education or equivalent ACECQA-approved qualification.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Nsw Department of Education and Communities-approved Child Protection Training Certificate.
  • NSW Department of Education and Communities-approved Early Childhood Education and Care Qualification.
  • Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management Certificates (valid for at least six months).
  • Food Handling and Preparation Training or Certification.
  • Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards NSW Proficient Teacher Accreditation.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Demonstrated experience working with young children in a childcare setting.
  • Sound oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to develop, document, and implement educational programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation governing early childhood education and care.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills to support staff development.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a range of benefits, including professional development opportunities, flexible working hours, and a supportive work environment.
