Speech and Communication Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Speech and Communication Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful impact on the communication and swallowing skills of adults and children.

As a valued member of our team, you will have the chance to conduct assessments and create personalized treatment plans, deliver evidence-based therapies, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for clients.

The ideal candidate will possess a recognised degree in Speech Pathology, current registration with the relevant speech pathology association, and experience working with both adults and children.

The role requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct Assessments and Create Treatment Plans
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify clients' needs and create personalized treatment plans that address their unique requirements.
Deliver Evidence-Based Therapies
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based therapies and interventions for speech, language, and swallowing disorders, tailored to meet the individual needs of each client.
Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals
  • Foster effective collaboration with occupational therapists, psychologists, and physiotherapists to provide holistic care for clients, promoting seamless transitions between treatment stages.
Educate Clients and Families
  • Provide clear, concise education to clients and their families regarding communication strategies and therapy objectives, empowering them to participate actively in the treatment process.
Maintain Accurate Documentation
  • Maintain precise, up-to-date documentation and progress notes in accordance with established practice protocols, ensuring accurate records of client interactions and treatment outcomes.
Participate in Professional Development
  • Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills, staying abreast of best practices and emerging trends in the field.
Qualifications:
  1. Recognised Degree in Speech Pathology
  • Hold a recognised degree in Speech Pathology from a reputable institution, demonstrating a strong foundation in theory and practice.
Registration and Experience
  • Be currently registered with the relevant speech pathology association, showcasing a commitment to professional standards and ethics.
  • Demonstrate experience working with both adults and children, with a preference for candidates who can draw upon a diverse range of clinical settings and populations.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Showcase a proactive approach to problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability in fast-paced clinical environments.
