Senior Underwriter Profin Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter Profin to join our team at Suncorp Group. As a key member of our Commercial Underwriting team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, sustainability, and profitability of our business.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite new and renewal business within the scope of individual Delegated Underwriting Authority to achieve strategic and financial goals.
- Attract, lead, and develop a diverse workforce, driving an inclusive culture and fostering a team environment where people are accountable for safety and wellbeing.
- Coach and mentor state product underwriters to lift capability and technical expertise.
- Work closely with Distribution to build broker relationship plans, enhancing intermediary engagement.
- Contribute to the Commercial Quality Assurance Framework by participating in national product audits, branch peer reviews, and actioning recommendations.
- Monitor ongoing policy performance to identify opportunities for remedial or corrective underwriting, ensuring alignment with underwriting, selection, and pricing guidelines.
- Minimum of 5 years of Professional and Financial Lines underwriting experience.
- Demonstrated ability to influence in the commercial Broker and Adviser insurance market to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Active member and involvement in appropriate industry groups.
- Understanding of relevant Insurance products, industry, market environment, reinsurance structures, and customer segments.
- Underwrites at an advanced level in accordance with Risk Appetite, Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA), Underwriting Guidelines, and Business Licence.
- Use technical product knowledge to set terms and conditions and determines their acceptability in comparison to risk appetite for each customer.
- Adheres to DUA and escalates with recommendations to higher DUA holder when appropriate.
- Advanced understanding and utilisation of underwriting tools, resources, processes, and guidelines.
- Advanced ability in the articulation of Risk Appetite and provide guidance to less experienced underwriters on appetite and coverage questions.
