Job Overview

The System Resilience team is expanding, and we're seeking a skilled individual to join as a Real-Time Operations Expert.

This role will play a pivotal part in delivering operational technology solutions that support our control centre beyond 2031. You'll work collaboratively with technical and operational teams to design and implement system improvements that drive business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead initiatives to upgrade SCADA/EMS systems, ensuring seamless integration and maximum efficiency.
  • Translate operational needs into robust technical requirements, driving innovative solutions.
  • Conduct thorough user acceptance testing, defect resolution, and validation of solutions to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate across engineering, IT, and project teams to optimise system design, leveraging expertise from diverse backgrounds.
  • Identify quick wins to enhance control room operations by implementing targeted solutions for tangible results.
  • Act as delegate for the Future Control Centre Manager when required, providing exceptional leadership and guidance.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in control centre operations, preferably within the energy or utilities sector.
  • Strong knowledge of operational technology systems in real-time environments, with an understanding of HV transmission networks, control, protection, and communication systems.
  • Experience in user acceptance testing, SCADA systems, and fault finding, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Leadership or coordination experience, guiding small teams towards shared goals, with resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in dynamic environments.
