About this role
This is a dynamic and rewarding position where you will play a key part in providing a safe, nurturing, and empowering home for children and young people with complex needs.
Key responsibilities:- Provide hands-on therapeutic support to help children and young people navigate challenging emotions, build healthy relationships, and develop skills to thrive in life.
- Support connections with family, friends, and the wider community, ensuring their rights and wellbeing are always protected.
- Act as primary carer, offering consistency, structure, and a sense of being valued.
This role involves active participation in team care planning, supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development.
Required skills and qualifications:- A minimum of a Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or other similar/relevant tertiary qualification.
- Completion of, or willingness to complete, the following mandatory units of competency:
- CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma informed care
- CHCPRT009 – Provide primary residential care
- CHCCCS009 – Facilitate responsible behaviour
- CHCPRT010 – Work with children and young people with complex trauma and attachment issues and needs
- A Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI 7) certification or willingness to upgrade to TCI 7 if a lower-level TCI certification is currently held.
- Willingness to undertake before employment and maintain valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificates.
- A current Drivers Licence.
