About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Rio Tinto's Weipa Operations. As a key member of our Laboratory Team, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely analytical services to support our core areas of Geology, Grade Control, Production, and Commercial.
Key Responsibilities- Engage in safe behaviors and practices by identifying hazards and implementing controls.
- Safely prepare and analyze samples using established standard procedures, ensuring quality practices are validated.
- Conduct planned maintenance and inspection of equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Contribute to the continual improvement of our Laboratory Quality Management System.
- Communicate analysis results to stakeholders in a timely manner to enable them to carry out their work.
- Certificate III or IV in Laboratory Techniques, or evidence of completing on-the-job training within a laboratory setting.
- Current and valid Driver's Licence.
- Aptitude for quality and precision.
- Ability to accomplish tasks within tight timeframes.
- Good computer skills with fluency in MS Office applications.
- A team player with the ability to work well autonomously.
