About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Wine Director to join our team at Merivale. As a key member of our beverage program, you will be responsible for introducing new and unique wine offerings to our list and taking charge of the overall wine program for one of our premium venues.

You will work closely with our Group General Manager – Beverage, Franck Moreau MS, and Head of Wine, Dorianne Neimard, to inspire, lead, and mentor a team of experienced Sommeliers. Your creativity, passion for wine, and exceptional leadership skills will be essential in driving the success of our wine program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement innovative wine lists that showcase the best of our suppliers
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to create menu pairings that enhance the dining experience
  • Mentor and train a team of Sommeliers to deliver exceptional wine service
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional campaigns that drive sales and revenue
  • Conduct regular tastings and training sessions to stay up-to-date with the latest wine trends and developments

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a senior role within a hospitality or retail environment
  • Advanced knowledge of wine, including wine production, regions, and pairing techniques
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
