As a Health Care Aide with Southern Health-Santé Sud, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to residents and patients. Under the guidance of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, or Registered Psychiatric Nurses, you will assist with daily living activities, ensuring the well-being and dignity of those in your care.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the core values of Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence, and will be able to demonstrate these values in their daily work. You will be responsible for prioritizing tasks, exercising initiative, and making sound judgments to ensure the delivery of exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents and patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents and patients
  • Assist with meal preparation and serving
  • Participate in care planning and implementation
  • Communicate effectively with residents, patients, and healthcare team members

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program
  • 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting (preferably with elderly or disabled clients)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift and move heavy clients (with assistance if needed)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities

Working Conditions
