Senior Risk Manager Role


The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is seeking a Senior Risk Manager to join its Registration Management program. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing the workflow of industry applications to ensure they meet regulatory and legislative requirements.


Key Responsibilities



  • Analyzing and evaluating scientific and technical information to inform regulatory decisions
  • Preparing high-quality written documents and correspondence to communicate complex scientific information to stakeholders
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to resolve application issues in a timely and effective manner

Requirements



  • Relevant work experience within the agricultural chemical regulatory framework or in a similar regulatory framework
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex scientific information and provide pragmatic advice
  • A thorough understanding of chemical risk assessment and risk management principles
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize a complex workload, and maintain a high standard of accuracy
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team across different locations
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant scientific discipline, such as agricultural or horticultural science, biotechnology, microbiology, or a related field

Desirable Criteria



  • Relevant work experience in the Australian Public Service
  • A sound working knowledge of Australian agriculture and the use of agricultural chemicals under Australian conditions
