The role of the Frontend Lead is to oversee the development of our Storefront platform, ensuring it remains at the forefront of e-commerce innovation. This involves setting the bar for engineering excellence, championing modern frontend practices, and driving architectural decisions that balance innovation with scalability, performance, and maintainability.

This senior role has high visibility and impact, requiring strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of frontend performance optimisation, server-side rendering, and static-site generation, as well as proficiency with Tailwind CSS or alternative styling frameworks and CSS architecture for maintainable performant UI.

  • Lead multiple squads in setting standards for engineering excellence.
  • Drive architectural decisions that align technical priorities with business goals.
  • Partner with the Senior Product Manager to ensure alignment between technical priorities and business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers to help them sharpen their craft in performance, accessibility, and maintainability.

You Bring:

  • 8+ years of professional frontend engineering experience with extensive expertise in architecting and leading large-scale React/Next.js applications.
  • Deep understanding of frontend performance optimisation, server-side rendering, and static-site generation.
  • Proficiency with Tailwind CSS or alternative styling frameworks and CSS architecture for maintainable performant UI.
  • Expertise in component-based design and reuse, including design systems and shared component libraries.
  • Strong knowledge of TypeScript, modern JavaScript, and frontend tooling Webpack, Vite, Babel.
  • Experience defining and enforcing coding standards, linting rules, and CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions or similar.
  • Familiarity with headless CMS integrations, GraphQL/REST APIs, and micro-frontend architectures.
  • Solid grasp of web accessibility standards WCAG 2.1+ and SEO best practices for e-commerce.
  • Skilled in monitoring and observability tools, e.g. Lighthouse, Sentry, New Relic, to diagnose and address performance or reliability issues.
  • Prior experience mentoring and providing technical leadership across engineering teams.
  • A strategic thinker able to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps with excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
