Occupational Therapist Role Overview

As an occupational therapist, you will have the opportunity to empower individuals and communities to reach their full potential and live life to the fullest.

This dynamic role offers a supportive and innovative environment where you can tailor your services towards assessments or therapy-based mixed caseloads including adult and/or paediatric clients.

  • Functional Assessments: Conduct thorough evaluations to identify support needs recommendations for individuals with varying abilities.
  • Assistive Technology Assessment: Identify opportunities for clients to expand their skills and expertise through assistive technology assessments.
  • Fine Motor and Gross Motor Therapy: Develop and implement evidence-based interventions to improve fine motor and gross motor skills.
  • Housing Needs Assessments: Provide recommendations for SIL / SDA or ILO accommodation options to meet individual client needs.
  • Therapy Sessions: Deliver goal-oriented, 1:1 therapy sessions to promote independence and empowerment.
  • Seating and Positioning Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify optimal seating and positioning solutions for clients.
  • Adult Therapy: Provide group or 1:1 therapy sessions for adults, focusing on evidence-based interventions.
  • Manual Handling Assessments: Train clients and staff on safe manual handling techniques to prevent injuries.
  • Developmental Milestones Assessments: Identify and address developmental delays in children aged 0-12 years.
  • Sensory Assessments and Interventions: Develop and implement sensory strategies to support clients with sensory processing difficulties.
  • Emotional Regulation Strategies: Work with parents, carers, and teachers to develop emotional regulation strategies for individuals with challenging behaviour.

Key Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy or related field. Current registration with relevant professional body.
