At Emmaus Village, we strive to provide a unique living environment for our residents who are living with dementia. Our innovative small-household model, originally developed in Europe, offers familiar surroundings and allows residents to participate in normal household duties such as shopping, cooking, and housekeeping.

The community centre is the heart of the village, featuring a café, shop, beauty salon, wellness centre, and cinema. The landscaped gardens include BBQs, a vegetable garden, and activity shed.

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Home Companion to join our team. As a Home Companion, you will build meaningful relationships with our residents, truly getting to know each one and creating an environment that encourages them to maintain their personal identity.

The rhythm of the day is defined by the residents, allowing them to live their lives on their own terms. You will work collaboratively with the Health and Wellness Team and the Dementia Support Consultant to provide high-quality care and ensure our residents live their best life.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support/Aged Care/Community Services
  • Experience working with aged people living with dementia or experience working with aged people or NDIS clients within their own homes
  • A willingness to learn about the various forms of dementia and how best to support your household and the residents
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with villagers, family members, and village staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability in supporting residents' needs
