Job Title

A Presidential Assistant position is available at the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. We encourage applications from Indigenous Australians, people living with disability, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, mature age workers and LGBTIQA+ individuals.

Duties include making proper and accurate records of Tribunal proceedings, undertaking legal research tasks and projects as directed by the President, providing administrative assistance to the President and Principal Registrar, and other tasks of an administrative nature.

Pre-employment checks will be conducted including:

  • Arson and fire setting
  • Violent crimes and crimes against the person
  • Sex-related offences
  • Drug and alcohol related offences
  • Crimes involving dishonesty
  • Crimes involving deception
  • Making false declarations
  • Malicious damage and destruction to property
  • Serious traffic offences
  • Crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice
  • Crimes against Executive or the Legislative Power
  • Crimes involving Conspiracy

Applicants must hold a law degree or substantial progress towards a degree, complete the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course or other approved practical legal training course, and be admitted as a legal practitioner or expect admission in Tasmania. A full driver's licence is also required.
