We are seeking a skilled Grounds Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Allambi Care, a leading provider of youth and disability support services in the Hunter, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Northern Rivers, and Victoria regions.

As a Grounds Maintenance Assistant, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our properties, ensuring that clients have a comfortable and healthy environment.

The successful candidate will have experience in horticulture or a related field and possess a strong understanding of WHS principles. They will also be physically fit and able to manage the demands of the role.

We offer a competitive salary package, including full-time employment for a fixed term of 12 months, with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain grounds and gardens at all Allambi properties, adhering to WHS principles and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Repair and maintain equipment, including commercial ride-on mowers and other power garden equipment.
  • Operate machinery safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
  • Assist with additional tasks, including moving furniture, house set-ups, and other forms of maintenance.
  • Monitor, address, and report all identified issues to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Support and train youth in relation to maintaining a job in the grounds maintenance industry.

Requirements:

  • Experience in horticulture or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of WHS principles and policies.
  • Current Manual Driver's License.
  • Broad range of maintenance skills, including pruning, trimming, and applying pesticides and fertilizers as necessary.
  • High level of physical health and fitness to manage the physical demands of the role.
  • Maintain a tidy and professional appearance.
  • Strong team working skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS policies and principles.
  • Outstanding communication, organisational, and time management skills.
