Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding Specialist to join our team.

This role is responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards on pressure vessels and heat exchangers.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Inspecting welds in line with AS/NZS and ASME codes, ensuring adherence to industry regulations.
  • Managing welder qualifications and maintaining records, including monitoring performance and managing requalification processes.
  • Overseeing welding processes, equipment, and consumables to ensure compliance with WPS and company policies.
  • Maintaining accurate records of welding activities in the QC database and project work packs.
  • Providing guidance and training to improve skills and reduce defects among welding staff.
  • Liaising with supervisors and inspectors to ensure smooth handovers and coordination.
  • Supporting the QA/QC team with documentation and NDT contractor management.
Requirements:
  • Trade qualification in welding or fabrication.
  • Possession of an AS1796 Welding Supervisor Certificate 10 or equivalent inspector certification (IIW, WTIA, CBIP, or CSWIP 3.1/3.2).
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within a pressure vessel workshop plus 5 years' trade experience.
  • Strong knowledge of AS and ASME welding codes and NDT requirements.
  • Proven experience across manual welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW) and automated systems (SAW, Orbital, robotic).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to lead and mentor under pressure.
