Civil Engineer Design Specialist Job Description

Develop and deliver plans for construction as part of a passionate engineering team. We are looking for an experienced Civil Designer/Drafter to manipulate survey data, create detailed civil drawings/models, calculate bulk earthwork and material quantities, collaborate with engineers, support project teams with documentation and revisions, and establish design templates and standards.

  • Manipulate survey data to inform design decisions.
  • Create detailed civil drawings/models including site layouts, earthworks, stormwater, below ground piping, and road designs.
  • Calculate and export bulk earthwork and material quantities.
  • Collaborate with engineers to deliver plans for construction.
  • Support project teams with documentation, revisions, and coordination of drawings/models.
  • Establish and maintain design templates and standards.

This role can be based at either our Melbourne or Sydney office. You'll have experience working in a consulting environment, delivering projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. With strong communication skills and the ability to drive successful project outcomes, you'll have a strong understanding of Autocad and proficiency in relevant CAD software.

  • Proficient in relevant CAD software, Autodesk Civil 3D and Plant 3D, with a strong understanding of Autocad.
  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment and/or conveyance design.
  • Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety in design, constructability, operational practices, and relevant Australian standards and WSAA codes.
  • Relevant TAFE qualifications, diploma, or degree in drafting, engineering, or design.
  • Understanding of risk management and the ability to identify project and design-related risks.
  • Commitment to working safely and within our HSEQ systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across a multidisciplinary team.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for engaging with diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
