Heavy Equipment Technician

Full-time position available for an Excavation Mechanic in Kununurra, WA.

• Identify and diagnose faults in excavation equipment and mechanical systems using manual inspection and diagnostic tools.
• Dismantle engines, transmissions, steering systems, suspension, and other key components for inspection and repair.
• Check individual parts for wear, defects, or damage.
• Repair or replace faulty or worn-out parts such as pistons, bearings, brake systems, and fuel injection components.
• Use service manuals and manufacturer specifications as guidance.
• Reassemble engines and mechanical systems after repairs.
• Test and adjust mechanical parts to ensure correct performance and functionality.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, coolant top-up, and engine tune-ups.
• Check and replace filters, belts, and fluids to maintain optimal performance.
• Perform tasks that ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety protocols.
• Inspect heavy equipment for roadworthiness and safety.

• Hold at least AQF Certificate III including two years of on-the-job training or three years of relevant experience.
• Three years of work experience is required.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Experience using computer aided software.
