About the Role

Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our building services team based in Melbourne.

This exciting opportunity offers a chance to lead the delivery of comprehensive mechanical design services throughout the entire project lifecycle, across a diverse range of sectors including commercial, aviation, healthcare, education, and defence.

You will prepare high-quality technical documentation and oversee mechanical engineering components for major projects across Australia, ensuring excellence in execution.

The successful candidate will also expand their technical expertise by taking on Project Management responsibilities on select projects, actively identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.

In addition, you will provide mentorship and leadership to junior engineers within the wider AECOM team, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineers on projects across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of mechanical design services across multiple sectors
  • Prepare technical documentation and oversee mechanical components for major projects
  • Take on Project Management responsibilities and identify opportunities for innovation
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior engineers

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng) with demonstrated knowledge and experience in a technical, design-focused HVAC or Mechanical Engineering role
  • Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in a Building Services consultancy or significant design expertise from working with a contractor or State Government department
  • Strong understanding of Australian standards, codes, and legislation with hands-on experience in delivering projects for State and/or Federal government sectors
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a passion for continuous learning and professional development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with industry-standard software (experience with Camel and Revit is a plus)

An estimated salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience
