High Voltage Engineering Specialist

We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our team as a High Voltage Engineering Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting professional engineering work on HV Secondary Systems, including Protection, Communications, Data Networks, etc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct professional engineering work on relevant aspects of HV Secondary Systems.
  • Provide detailed design services on specialist engineering areas including Protection Detailed Design, Primary Plant and Secondary Systems Equipment Specification and Procurement, Protection & Control Detail Schematics and Integration, Load flow, fault level power quality and dynamic studies and analyses, and Communication Systems design.
  • Develop specifications and interface with management on design issues.
  • Demonstrate understanding of HV protection systems.
  • Check design work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
  • Have working knowledge of cable sizing software and HV modelling software.
  • Assist with site commissioning and attend meetings with customers to resolve technical issues.
Requirements
  • University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years minimum relevant experience in HV substation and HV distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of HV distribution design including relevant Australian and International standards and codes.
  • Fundamental understanding of HV secondary design.
  • Site experience/experience in projects being constructed and commissioned.
  • Skilled at or able to learn software packages independently (e.g., CYMCAP, DIgSILENT Power Factory).
