About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations we focus on enabling access to quality skills, training and employment services that support Australians finding secure work in fair productive and safe workplaces.

Our team is responsible for providing evidence-based policy advice and developing policy on job seekers' requirements while receiving payments (mutual obligations).

The team's key policy focus is advising on options to incentivise participation while minimising unintended or unnecessary impacts on unemployment payment recipients.

This role requires high-level policy expertise including developing policy advice liaising with stakeholders and supervising junior staff.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Developing policy advice relating to mutual obligations and job seeker compliance policy
  • Liaising with internal external stakeholders
  • Advising on mutual obligation requirements and compliance
  • Researching and developing a further evidence base

To be successful in this role you will need strong analytical and communication skills as well as experience in policy development and stakeholder engagement.
