About the Role

The Senior Corporate Counsel will play a critical role in advising the Optus Group on complex litigation, regulatory, and competition matters. As a seasoned legal professional, you will provide strategic guidance to business units, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation and disputes, administrative proceedings, and planning matters before the courts and material customer disputes.
  • Support the Regulatory and Public Affairs team in relation to regulatory matters and deal with regulatory enforcement and remediation matters as necessary.
  • Provide general legal advice and support to business units, including compliance, privacy, competition, telecommunication, and consumer law issues.
  • Brief and manage external lawyers as required under the direction of the Principal Legal Counsel.
  • Provide legal advice in relation to Optus' obligations to and engagement with law enforcement authorities.

Requirements

  • Admitted as a solicitor in one or more States in Australia.
  • Litigation experience handling cases and court processes.
  • Experience in a leading law firm in private practice and ideally some experience in-house.
  • Ability to provide commercially focused legal support.
  • Superior drafting and negotiation skills.
