Competition Expertise Opportunity

The role requires a highly skilled professional to lead competition analysis and investigations, assist with litigation, and drive strategic initiatives to promote competition for consumers.

We seek individuals who can bring expertise in economics, law, or related fields to develop and implement plans for the conduct of investigations and/or projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead teams to identify and analyze relevant information, drawing evidence-based conclusions on competition issues.
  • Develop and review plans for the conduct of investigations and/or projects, ensuring adherence to established investigative principles.
  • Identify suitable resolutions for identified actions, changing market behaviors, activities, and issues, and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Prepare for litigation in the Federal Court, including drafting briefs for lawyers and counsel, and obtaining witness statements.
  • Assist in leading and guiding the professional development of junior team members, contributing to the leadership of the branch.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, law, or similar fields.
  • Strong understanding of competition provisions under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other relevant legislation.
  • Experience leading and managing investigations into complex matters and/or competition law issues, ensuring investigations are undertaken with established investigative principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake objective, systematic analysis to draw accurate conclusions, critically assess and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Strong written drafting skills, with experience in ensuring high-quality documentation, including staff papers, notices, correspondence, reports, minutes, and briefs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster successful internal and external stakeholder relationships.
