Job Overview
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Director of Estimating to join our team. As a key member of our cost management team, you will be responsible for leading cost estimation efforts on various infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cost estimation teams and ensure delivery of high-quality estimates.
- Liaise with clients and consultants at all project stages.
- Develop cost estimates from drawings and specifications.
- Meet and negotiate costs with contractors.
- Use industry-standard estimating tools and software.
- Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present to clients.
- Provide input into value engineering and negotiate final accounts.
- Identify improvements for cost management procedures and templates.
- Perform all aspects of estimating, analysis, and verification of contractor costs.
- Manage cost checks and carry out valuations on larger projects.
- Develop life cycle, maintenance, and operating costs.
- Assist in the development of historical pricing databases and cost estimating guidelines.
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in cost estimating, specifically on the delivery side.
- Experience working in the infrastructure construction industry, including rail, light rail, bus, and transportation civil construction.
- Expert knowledge of construction procurement methods and industry-standard estimating software.
- Strong understanding of civils, structural, and architectural systems.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead multiple estimating teams and work on multiple project phases.
