About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Curator, Indigenous Engagement to join our team at the Monash University Museum of Art.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and presenting MUMA's artistic, collection and education programs with a focus on projects involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and cultural practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and develop MUMA's artistic programs, including exhibitions and community engagement initiatives
- Liaise with artists, writers, and cognate academics to develop innovative exhibitions and programs
- Co-develop and present MUMA's education programs, tailoring them to specific audiences and curricula
- Contribute to MUMA's accessible educational resources for primary, secondary, and tertiary students
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- High-level knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and creative practices
- Knowledge of artists, institutions, established networks, and contemporary art contexts nationally and internationally
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, participants, and audiences
