We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HSE Advisor - Safety Expert to join our team at ALS. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a crucial role in upholding our core principle: We are Safe.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert support to management and staff, consulting, advising, and enforcing site safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct thorough HSE inspections and safety audits, investigating incidents, identifying causes, and implementing corrective actions.
- Support managers and employees in injury prevention and management, promoting a positive safety culture.
- Develop and coordinate HSE training programs for staff, ensuring they are equipped to identify and mitigate risks.
- Manage and develop risk assessments, monitoring and recording hazard observations, near misses, and injuries.
- Stay up-to-date with safety and industry best practices, providing innovative solutions for continuous improvement.
- Review and maintain the local safety system, ensuring compliance with company standards and reporting any issues or concerns to management.
- Collaborate with the national HSE team to ensure alignment across laboratories.
- Formal qualifications (Cert IV minimum) and extensive experience in HSE.
- Confidence in your knowledge and ability, enabling you to build strong relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Passion, enthusiasm, and a goal-driven approach.
- Experience in incident investigations, risk assessments, and auditing.
- Organized, level-headed, and possessing a common-sense approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer software, including email, MS Word, and Excel.
- Strong computer and numeracy skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to compliance.
- Ability to work cooperatively with team members and management.
- Working knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment legislation and standards.
- Previous experience in a laboratory environment is advantageous.
