About the Role

GFG Alliance is seeking a skilled and motivated Operator to join our team in Mackay. As an Operator, you will play a critical role in our steel processing and distribution operations, working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment that values safety above all else.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills and experience in the steel industry, with full on-the-job training provided. The role is full-time, 38 hours per week, with overtime available where required.

Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, and Friday, 7:30am to 2:00pm. We prioritize a healthy work-life balance, minimizing overtime and weekend work whenever possible.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operate Manual Benders: Cut and shape reinforcing bars to meet customer specifications.
  2. Input Job Tags: Accurately input job tags on machines to produce steel products.
  3. Operate Forklifts: Safely operate forklifts to move materials and products within the facility.
  4. Pick and Pack Orders: Accurately pick and pack orders for customers and internal departments.
  5. Load and Unload Trucks: Load and unload trucks for customers or our drivers, ensuring timely and safe delivery of products.
  6. Promote a Safe Workplace: Contribute to a safe working environment by following safety protocols and reporting any hazards or incidents.
Requirements
  1. Willingness to Learn: A willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing situations.
  2. Problem-Solving Ability: Sound ability to problem-solve and think critically.
  3. Safety-Focused Mindset: A strong commitment to safety and a willingness to promote a safe working environment.
  4. Team Player: Thrives in a team environment and is able to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  5. Industry Experience: Background in steel, manufacturing, or construction industries is preferred, but not essential.
  6. Forklift and Crane Experience: Forklift license and experience, as well as crane ticket and experience, are not essential but desirable.
