About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Mechanical Fitter to join our dynamic team in Rockhampton. With a strong background in mechanical systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, you will thrive in this exciting opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overhaul and repair various makes and types of gearbox and power transmission equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Strip, clean, inspect, and repair industrial power transmission equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Establish root causes of equipment issues to enhance reliability and performance, thereby reducing downtime.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring all equipment is in good working order, adhering to safety standards.
  • Engage in occasional travel and site work as required, utilizing your technical expertise to resolve complex issues.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development, including OEM training to stay up-to-date with industry advancements.

Mandatory Skills:

  • A trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting with Australian qualifications.
  • A thorough understanding of work safety standards, with a strong emphasis on safety-conscious behavior.
  • Excellent technical ability to read engineering drawings and utilize workshop measuring equipment, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • A results-driven attitude with excellent workload management skills, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills, with proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Dedicated, reliable, and able to work effectively in a team environment, fostering strong relationships with colleagues.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with others.

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous customer service experience, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with wind turbines, a significant advantage in this role.
  • The ability to mentor trainees and apprentices, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
  • Experience in gearbox testing, a valuable skillset for this position.
  • High-risk work licenses (FLT, Dogging, and Rigging) preferred; training will be provided where necessary.
