About the Team

BDO's Deal Advisory practice has a dynamic Business Restructuring team that works on various engagements across corporate and personal insolvency, business turnaround advisory, investigating accountants' reviews, safe harbour engagements, special situations advisory including private capital raising and distressed M&A. Our clients include large corporates, SMEs, financiers, government agencies, solicitors, and entrepreneurs.

About the Role

This opportunity is ideal for an Analyst who will play a key role in coordinating and progressing formal insolvency appointments such as small business restructuring, voluntary administrations, receiverships, liquidations, and bankruptcies. The successful candidate may assist on class action engagements and develop skills in conducting safe harbour engagements, independent business reviews, and financial modelling. We have a hands-on approach, and as part of a close-knit team, you will gain broad and varied experience.

Day-to-day tasks involve:

  • Managing formal insolvency appointment files, statutory reporting compliance, investigations, responding to creditors, and operational matters for trade on engagements
  • Developing asset recovery and realisation strategies and identifying legal recovery actions
  • Assisting management in formulating strategies for complex matters that add value to clients
  • Working independently and collaboratively with management to support risk mitigation and business improvement
  • Designing and developing financial models (e.g., cash flow 3-way models)
  • Analysing business performance and assisting with expert solvency reports, independent business reviews, and safe harbour engagements
  • Participating in business development and training activities

About You

  • You should hold relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, finance, or law
  • Have at least one year's prior relevant experience in restructuring and insolvency with strong skills and foundation knowledge of external administration types and relevant legislation
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills, ability to investigate issues, and use financial analytical skills to support clients
  • Show well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal skills for effective communication and interaction with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in insolvency software, INSOL6 preferred but not essential
  • A willingness to undertake CA/CPA/ARITA qualifications
