Senior Medical Officer Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the health and wellbeing of North West communities. As a Senior Medical Officer, you will be working at the Normanton Hospital, providing clinical care to patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The successful applicant will manage the administrative requirements of patient care, including ensuring discharge summaries and medico-legal correspondence are completed promptly.

  • A relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
  • Hold current unconditional registration or eligibility for unconditional registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Possession of a Fellowship in General Practice (FACCRM or FRACGP/FRACGP-RG/FARGP).
  • A "Rural Generalist" qualification (FACRRM, FARGP or FRACGP-RG) is highly regarded.
Benefits

This role offers a competitive pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value. The salary ranges from $182,106 to $266,677 p.a., with opportunities for professional development and growth. You will also receive:

  • 5 weeks annual recreational leave accumulation with 17.5% loading when taken.
  • Attraction and retention incentive allowance (Assigned Model)
  • Regional and Rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary
  • Motor vehicle allowance.
  • Professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a.
  • Inaccessibility allowance.
About the Location

Normanton is a small community situated on the banks of the Norman River in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The area has a strong focus on fishing and prawning industries, as well as tourism. The Traditional Owners of the Normanton area are the Gkuthaarn, Kukatj, and Kurtijar peoples.
