Job Title: Health Insurance Team Manager

You will lead a team of supervisors responsible for implementing effective supervisory strategies and action plans to deliver strengthened prudential outcomes for the health insurance industry.

The role is part of a larger team and will report into a senior manager in the division overseeing private health insurance and superannuation.

  • Manage and develop a team to supervise effectively and deliver improved outcomes;
  • Model inclusive leadership behaviors and foster an open culture within the team where diverse views are shared and respected;
  • Develop and guide your team in identifying critical issues before they arise;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and their potential impact on supervised entities;
  • Adapt supervision approaches based on organization type, size, complexity, functions, and risk;
  • Coach your team in assessing the quality of management, strategies, practices, and systems of supervised financial institutions;
  • Match team resources with identified priorities given the diverse range of organizations and activities;
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the division;
  • Work with the leadership team to achieve APRA priorities.
Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in team management and leadership is preferred;
  • Knowledge or interest in private health industry trends and ecosystem is desirable;
  • Strong technical knowledge of relevant legislation or commitment to learn is essential;
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are required;
  • Good judgment skills to identify best practice and actual or potential problems in supervised institutions are necessary;
  • Ability to engage confidently with senior executives to foster and achieve prudent practice;
  • Excellent organizational, self-management, and priority management skills are essential; and
  • Openness to learning and adapting in a dynamic environment.
