Overview

The Perioperative Unit at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane provides care for patients undergoing general, gynaecology, robotics, plastics, urology, vascular, Orthopaedics (including spine) and neurosurgery. As a valued member of the team, you will be part of a group of professionals who take pride in providing high-quality patient care.

Salary and Benefits

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and organizing the operating room before surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available. You will also assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies during procedures, maintain strict aseptic technique throughout the surgical process, and collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate and respond to the needs of the surgeon.

You will also monitor and assess patient vital signs before, during, and after surgery, provide immediate intervention if necessary, document accurate and comprehensive surgical records, and act as a patient advocate, ensuring their comfort, safety, and wellbeing throughout the surgical experience.

In addition, you will continuously update your knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in surgical nursing practices.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions), at least 3 years' recent Scrub/Scout experience, ability to work in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

You will also need to demonstrate ability to operate both in a team environment and autonomously, using initiative, sound reasoning, and strong listening, negotiation, and decision-making skills. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills are also essential.
