Commercial Lines Underwriter Role Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to quote and bind renewal and new business submissions, while delivering exceptional client service to brokers and external stakeholders.

  • Develop effective working relationships with brokers to resolve queries regarding new business submissions.
  • Prepare comprehensive underwriting files for both renewal and new business, including data entry into the underwriting system, market research, and rater completion.
  • Collaborate with internal departments for credit control, claims, and risk information.
  • Ensure timely issuance of binding instructions or subjectivities to brokers.
  • Create and review policy documents to meet audit requirements.
  • Assist with reconciliation of aged finance items to maintain accurate records.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date underwriting files that meet regulatory requirements. Ensure policy tracking and workflow tools reflect current policy status at all times.

Quality Performance Metrics:
  • Establish strong relationships with brokers, ensuring prompt responses to their inquiries.
  • Regularly communicate with brokers, keeping them informed on relevant issues.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with third-party providers and external stakeholders.

Support the completion of outsourced processes, adhering to agreed service standards and quality levels. Participate in meetings with brokers, internal departments, and external advisers to ensure seamless collaboration.
