Role Overview

The Senior Psychiatrist - Intellectual and Developmental Disability will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing assessments and evidence-based bio-psycho-social interventions to patients in the Gold Coast region who access Mental Health and Specialist Services (MHSS) and have a primary intellectual and developmental disability with co-occurring moderate to severe mental disorders that require assessment or interventions by the public mental health services.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide specialist psychiatric care to patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Provide bio-psycho-social interventions to patients and their families
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination

Requirements

- Registered as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia
- Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent
- Completion of training in the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABPN certified) or New Zealand
