About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Animal Care Specialist to join our team at the University of South Australia. As a key member of our research support team, you will be responsible for ensuring the welfare and care of animals used in research, in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality animal care and husbandry services to support research activities
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and legislative requirements
  • Collaborate with researchers and other stakeholders to develop and implement animal care plans
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality systems and procedures
  • Supervise and train staff, researchers, and students on animal care and handling procedures

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual with a strong background in laboratory animal care and a passion for animal welfare. You will have a relevant qualification and demonstrated experience working in an animal facility, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant qualification in laboratory animal care (e.g. Diploma in Animal Technology)
  • Demonstrated experience working in an animal facility
