Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the installation, refurbishment, and planned maintenance of various systems on board U.S. Virginia Class submarines. This will include the management and completion of work packs, as well as the delivery of completed work scopes to the appropriate engineering standards and safe work practices.



Training and Development

You will undergo world-leading training in nuclear technology at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for 12-24 months. This training will be a combination of classroom-based instruction and on-the-job learning.



Post-Deployment Role

After completing your training, you will return to Western Australia to carry out planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines.



Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must possess a trade qualification in fitting/turning or machining, as well as 1-5 years of experience in a similar role. You must also have experience working in restricted areas and confined spaces, and be able to demonstrate a proven ability to be flexible and eager to learn and develop new skills.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria:



  • Hold a trade qualification in fitting/turning or machining
  • Have 1-5 years of experience in a similar role

  • Be able to demonstrate a proven ability to be flexible and eager to learn and develop new skills
