Coal Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Coal Technician to join our team at SGS. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting physical coal testing and analysis of routine samples, ensuring accuracy and precision, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coal Testing and Analysis: Conduct physical coal testing and analysis of routine samples to ensure accuracy and precision.
• Sample Management: Receipt, record, sort, and store coal samples as required.
• Equipment Maintenance: Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
• Workflow Coordination: Plan shift workflow and coordinate pick-ups and analysis.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with analytical methods, procedures, and SGS Quality Systems.

Requirements:

• Coal Experience: Coal sampling, preparation, and testing experience is desirable, but not mandatory.
• General Laboratory Experience: Previous experience in a general mineral laboratory environment is preferred.
• Computer Skills: Good computer skills, including Excel, are beneficial.
• Teamwork and Communication: Ability to be a team player with strong communication skills.
• Pressure Management: Ability to work under pressure.
