About the Role
The University of Melbourne is seeking a Director of Cultural Heritage Initiatives to lead key initiatives that enhance awareness and protection of the University's cultural heritage across its estate. This role will play a pivotal part in building capability within the Estate Planning and Performance function, managing complex workstreams, and collaborating closely with Indigenous Partnerships and Strategy teams.

Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement cultural heritage procedures and frameworks to manage risks and integrate cultural values into planning and design.
* Provide expert advice on conserving, maintaining, and enhancing cultural heritage across the University's estate.
* Ensure compliance by staying informed on legislative changes, maintaining accurate records, and overseeing reporting on cultural heritage regulations.
* Lead stakeholder engagement, collaborating with internal teams and external partners, including Traditional Owner and Indigenous knowledge holder groups, to support cultural heritage initiatives.

About You
You will be a collaborative and results-driven professional with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to synthesise complex information into clear reports, strategic advice, and presentations. With strong stakeholder management skills, you will effectively influence diverse groups to achieve organisational goals while proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
* A relevant postgraduate qualification or an equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience.
* Extensive expertise in cultural heritage matters, including state and national legislation, design implications, and protection frameworks.
* Strong business acumen with the ability to translate strategy into outcomes and effectively lead programmes of work within a broad strategic setting.
