About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Program Officer to join our team at The State of Queensland. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in leading the secretariat functions for the Forde Foundation, including ongoing liaison and consultation with the Chair of the Forde Board of Advice and representatives of the Queensland Public Trustee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all secretariat functions to support the Forde Foundation Board of Advice, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Using a trauma-informed approach, respond to general enquiries about the Forde Foundation's grants program and the management of registrations.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight and coordination of the Foundation's grants program, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Provide advice and briefings to the Board and the Queensland Public Trustee on matters relevant to the operation of the Foundation's grants program.
  • Assist the Board with stakeholder engagement, including linking with other relevant advisory groups as appropriate.
  • Undertake analysis of trends, risks, and issues in relation to the Board, and identify mitigation strategies and practical responses.
  • As required, identify, research, and analyze current and emerging issues relevant to the Foundation and the Queensland Government's response to Forgotten Australians.
  • Establish and maintain robust business systems and records, meeting reporting requirements, including the Board's annual report.
  • Oversight, coordinate, and prepare correspondence, submissions, and briefing notes relating to the Foundation in consultation with the Queensland Public Trustee and the Board.
  • Explore strategies and opportunities to collaborate to enhance the life outcomes of Forgotten Australians and people who have been wards of the State or under guardianships of the State, or who have been resident as a child in a Queensland institution.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in a related field, such as social work, law, or public administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Knowledge of the Queensland Government's policies and procedures, particularly in relation to the Forde Foundation and the response to Forgotten Australians.
