Senior Search Architect

We are seeking an experienced Senior Search Architect to join our team, focusing on building and scaling world-class conversational search features.

This critical role requires a deep understanding of search systems, information retrieval fundamentals, and query optimization. As a Senior Search Architect, you will be responsible for guiding teams in executing projects, identifying architectural improvements to our search infrastructure, and defining our search technology strategy.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to build trust and provide support.
  • Define and communicate our search technology strategy, working closely with leadership to shape the vision for search and insights extraction.
  • Identify, prioritize, and solve systemic technical challenges, particularly those that cut across multiple teams.
  • Design and implement advanced search systems, architecting scalable indexing pipelines, query understanding systems, and relevance tuning mechanisms.
  • Advocate for engineering quality, setting a high bar for search excellence and mentoring junior team members to improve their decision-making around search architecture.
About You
  • Extensive experience building search systems, with hands-on exposure to designing and implementing search infrastructure using technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, or vector databases.
  • Excellent communicator, able to convey complex thoughts on search architectures to product teams and articulate query performance vs. relevance tradeoffs.
  • Experience managing complex search infrastructure, including optimizing indexing pipelines and providing reasonable performance estimates.
  • Pragmatic and flexible, comfortable with ambiguity in search requirements and able to adjust to shifting customer search needs.
  • A keen eye for quality, committed to delivering top-notch work and setting a high standard for search excellence.
