Salary Information

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary within the AFP's salary range of $107,559.00 to $118,673.00 per annum.

Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities

As a Policy Officer in the Strategy and Performance Office (SPO), you will support the team to:

  • Prepare strategic advice, briefs, and policy proposals that are cognizant of operational drivers and government priorities;
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, distilling key issues and negotiating innovative solutions to complex problems;
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with various stakeholders;
  • Manage competing priorities and promote better organisational understanding of government processes;

You will also contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, AFP Code of Conduct, and Governance Instruments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong writing, strategic thinking, judgement, prioritisation, and stakeholder engagement skills;
  • A knowledge of government processes, new policy proposals, and executive/ministerial briefing;
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or ability to obtain one;
